Amazon.com

Needs an adapter

Amazon's current API works, but returns an object with suggestions[].value rather than Firefox's [query, [suggestions]] array. Its legacy /search/complete endpoint returned 404. Requires an adapter/extension, not a static OpenSearch file.

This engine has no configured suggestions. Installing it still enables searches.

Add to Firefox

  1. While on this page, right-click Firefox’s address bar and choose Add “SB Amazon US” (wording varies by Firefox version). Alternatively, use the search-engine dropdown’s Add search engine option, or the separate search bar’s magnifying-glass plus icon.
  2. Open Settings → Search → Search Shortcuts and assign @amazonus to SB Amazon US. Firefox does not import engine aliases from OpenSearch files.
  3. Enable Provide search suggestions (and suggestions in address-bar results) if you want remote completions. Then type @amazonus query, or select this engine in the search dropdown. Private-window suggestions have a separate setting.

Names start with SB so these engines do not collide with built-ins. If the Add option is missing, check whether SB Amazon US is already installed. This must be opened over HTTP(S), not as a local file: page.

Bookmark keywords are separate. The imported amazonus keyword still invokes a bookmark and cannot supply remote suggestions. Use @amazonus for this engine, or remove the bookmark keyword before reusing it as an engine alias.

Inspect the OpenSearch XML — opening XML alone is not an installation button.

Privacy

When enabled, remote suggestions send unfinished queries to the provider before you press Enter. This site does not proxy them. Installing an engine does not disable Sync or telemetry. Keep Firefox signed out of Sync on devices that must not sync.
